Someone Else’s Story. (NW5)

It comes and goes, Spasms in and out.  It’s not under my control.  It controls me and affects me.  It’s a constant companion.  He wants to be my friend, I long to give in.  To relax into the place of accepting.  To give up my fight and let it rule me.  Fighting hasn’t seemed to help, giving in would mean a freedom of sorts.  Having an excuse, a reason, a get out clause. I want everyone …

Who are you in the Spirit? (NW 4)

Who are you in the Spirit? (NW 4)

When I was 17 or so some guys I know put on a “festival”. It was called barnfest. Basically we had access to a barn and some fields, there was a whole group of us in bands, both covers bands and some writing their own music.  Some of us got up to cover one song, that sounds like a small task… But the music we were doing was difficult. The Goodness of God (New Wine 1)

We’re a nation of affluent privileged people living in luxury.(To be badly off in the UK is to be in the richest 10% globally. The worst off in the UK are truly poor though.) We sing about the goodness of God. All the time. It seems to be a battle. In the soul of the (UK?) church.  Is it guilt? Is it that we know that having so much stuff doesn’t work but we’re also …

A Sunday Story

A Sunday Story

A new leader, Kate, arrived at a small Congregational Church. She quickly began to encourage, preach and teach the struggling congregation. She soon found herself falling in love with the hearts of a tired but passionate community who despite years of struggle still carried on working hard. Hoping, believing that one day something might change. It was some time since anyone new had joined the congregation, and the ones they could remember had all been …
